Louis XIV made the wig fashionable due to his baldness problem. The higher the height, the higher the status. Later came heels, stockings and rice or flour powders to whiten the complexion. The man’s clothing was more pompous than the woman’s.
Beginning with medieval societies in which cities were organized by a system of fiefdoms, the difference between social classes increased considerably. Making the rich very rich and the poor very poor, because of their lineage. A question of surnames.
America would be one of the main sources of income for these families, commercial activity multiplies as well as their standard of living.
